Don’t you wish you could nap like this?
Just read a little post on Apartment Therapy about the benefits of napping and loved this photo. I remember napping with my little dachsie, Sophie, where we would spoon (OK I would spoon her – she made a nice little warm spot on my stomach).
Lovely Layla
Donna in Edinburgh sent in a few pictures of her camera-shy darling, Layla, wearing her new pink leopard suede collar. Look at Layla’s pretty colouring and sweet, sweet face! Too bad she doesn’t like to pose, but really it’s her prerogative.
Supporting Celia Cross Greyhound Trust
What a marvelous thing facebook is. Through the Luxuryhound fan page we met Penel Malby, dog behaviourist and photographer extraordinaire ( Penelope Malby Photography ). Outside the course of her business activities, she manages to find time to volunteer her talents for her local Surrey greyhound rescue, Celia Cross Greyhound Trust, an organisation that rescues, rehabilitates, and re-homes sick or ill-treated greyhounds and lurchers. Penel had the bright idea that our new sparkly hound collars might make a nice addition to Celia Cross’s Christmas auction (November 12, for those of you in Surrey!). She also volunteered to shoot portraits of some of the foster dogs wearing the collars. So, presto — here they are. I think you’ll agree that Penel has captured Duke’s and Polly’s essential sweetness.
Doe-eyed Twiglet
Bridget sent us these pictures of Twiglet, a 1yr old Whippet who lives with Sky, her 9 yr old Whippet friend in Argyllshire. Look at that silky coat and soft eyes! Bridget says:
She is very beautiful (of course ! ) but thinks she is a Rottweiler. She’s very loving and very playful.Your collar has been SO admired and has, so far, braved the bogs and wet!! I have my Son’s 4 mth old Lab puppy coming to stay for a week, so I think I shall remove the collar for that time!
Good idea, Bridget. You never know what dastardly deeds puppies are planning behind that ‘I’m too cute to get into trouble’ exterior.
[Oh, and by the way, could you take me back to 2008 in your time machine -- I've got a few loose ends to tie up.

Harvey
Look at those soulful eyes! Don’t they just sigh ‘I love you’ ( or ‘I want a biscuit’ — either one, possibly both).Gillian Cameron from Glasgow sent us these wonderful photos of Harvey, her 5 year old Cocker Spaniel.
Poppy at Burghley
Poppy dog was in our book for charity, Hounds of Scotland, and her lovely mum Kate has been a tireless friend of Luxuryhound. Kate won collars for her two dogs (Rosie is getting older and so didn’t go along to the Burghley Horse Trials this year) and kindly just sent us these stunning photos of Poppy posing at Burghley wearing our Limited Edition brown dogtooth collar. Enjoy!
Purple Suede in the Porsche
I met Louise Tope last weekend at the Scottish Kennel Club championships at Ingliston, where she bought a purple suede collar for her gorgeous boy Archie, a 12-year old Whippet. When she got home to Devon she sent me this wonderful photograph of him posing. Of course it was clear that she’s no stranger to the camera (and Archie seems accustomed to being a model!), so I took a little gander at her website, Dewerstone Photography.
Have a look at a few of her favourite dog portraits — she has a lovely eye for our best friends.
From Texas With Love
We were recently introduced to Texan photographer Megan McMillen Hamilton, whose dog shots made us swoon. We’re only just the tiniest bit jealous of Texas summer (raining here in Edinburgh today… again… ) Take a look at some of her beautiful work.
In the past Megan has focused more on portraits of people, but she’s finding that she enjoys the pet portraiture so much that she’s looking to do more and more of it. Good luck, Megan!
Naughty Sausage
Owner Verity claims that Saus is a naughty little girl, but looking at those heart-melting eyes and soft shiny coat, I’ll bet she gets away with it over and over again…
Like a lot of dachsies, Sausage is apparently territorial (you clearly don’t belong here so I’m going to worry your feet for a while and give you some strangely loud howls for such a little creature), and just doesn’t want to walk – and indeed will lock her legs so she falls over when you pull on the lead. But she is also incredibly loving and very funny. She’s definitely worth it.
When Verity first received our Zigzag printed suede collar (in size small), she wrote:
Just letting you know the collar arrived today! It is perfect we are over the moon with it thank you! We will send you a pic of Saus sporting it as soon as the weather is good enough to go out in it!
A month later, the verdict is:
I have finally got around to sending a pic of Saus posing in her collar, we get compliments on it all time!
Now that’s a pose, Miss Sausage. Have you done this modelling gig before?
Dandy Dudley
Lovely Alison writes:
